Developing 2nd Line Leaders Who Build Leadership Capability
Monday, May 18, 2026
1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CT, 11:00 AM MT and 10:00 AM PT)
Second-line leaders are often underdeveloped and treated like “super managers.” When training is provided, it typically focuses on general leadership awareness or reinforces first-line manager skills, rather than addressing the distinct needs of the second-line role.
As a result, many second-line leaders are left without clear, practical guidance on how to lead through their managers and consistently build leadership capability across their teams.
This round table will focus on how organizations are designing and delivering training specifically for second-line leaders. We will explore high-impact development topics, effective delivery approaches, and ways to move beyond awareness to role-relevant application. The discussion will also examine how training can better equip second-line leaders to strengthen the capability of their managers and drive more consistent execution across the organization.
Participants will share current approaches, challenges, and practical ideas for developing second-line leaders in ways that reflect the realities of their role and responsibilities.
