Gamification That Works: Best Practices for Driving Capability and Performance

Monday, April 27, 2026

1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CT, 11:00 AM MT and 10:00 AM PT)

Gamification is gaining traction in learning and development, but much of it still falls short—driving engagement without delivering meaningful behavior change or performance impact. This round table will focus on what actually makes gamification work. We’ll cut through the noise to explore practical design principles that align game mechanics to real-world behaviors, reinforce skills over time, and build true capability.

We’ll also examine how AI is changing the game—enabling faster design, more personalized experiences, and adaptive learning that better reflects real-world complexity.

This will be a working session, not a presentation. Participants will share what they’ve tried, what’s worked, what hasn’t, and where they see the greatest opportunity to apply gamification more effectively.

Discussion Topics

  • Best practices for designing gamification that drives behavior change
  • Common pitfalls that limit impact
  • Where gamification fits in the learning journey (practice, reinforcement, coaching)
  • Using AI to design and scale more effective gamified experiences
  • Real-world examples, lessons learned, and practical takeaways
  • Join us for a candid, practical discussion on moving from great programs to enduring capability.

When is the Round Table?
Monday, April 27, at 1:00 pm ET (12:00 pm CT, 11:00 am MT, and 10:00 am PT)

Dave Davis will moderate the 60-minute round table.

How do I register?

It’s easy!

Leadership Round Table

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting, and you can download a calendar placeholder. We will also follow up with an article reprint and a few preparation questions to consider before the session.

What’s the catch?

There isn’t one! This will be an open forum in which we share development ideas and techniques to ensure our leaders are reaching their full potential.
